The Main Library and Loma Alta Park location will be closed on Thursday, June 19, for Juneteenth.
 
The Loma Alta Park location will be closed on Saturday, June 7.

The Bob Lucas Memorial Library is currently closed for renovations.

Bob Lucas Library Renovation Comes Along
The renovation and expansion of the Bob Lucas Memorial Library is about 85% done, and the branch is scheduled to open later this summer! More updates soon!

Level-Up! at the Altadena Library District this Summer! 
 
Sign up (children and adults receive a tote bag and book when they register/teens recevie a tote bag and reading journal) and earn 5 badges between June 2 and August 16 by reading or completing activities. Redeem badges for prizes throughout the summer (while supplies last). Challenge yourself to read 500 minutes and help us reach our community goal of 250,000 minutes!

Annual Meeting with Keni Arts

Join the Friends of the Altadena Library at its annual meeting in person at the Main Library. FOAL will present its yearly contribution to the Library and propose the slate of new Board Members for the coming year. Voting for Officers and Board Members can only be done by members, but everyone is welcome to attend this event.
 
This year's guest speaker is local artist Keni Arts, known throughout the community for his beautiful interpretations of Altadena life before and after the fires earlier this year. Keni will discuss his artistic journey and the community room will have on display his current art exhibit "Beauty For Ashes" — a series that reimagines Altadena in its moment of transition, documenting destruction, renewal, and hope.

Black Girl Film School Camera Foundations Lab

Discover the craft of filmmaking in the FREE BGFS Camera Foundations Lab! This hybrid program combines online lessons with weekly in-person sessions at the Altadena Library to teach the fundamentals of shot selection, camera operation, storytelling, and cinematography. For girls 13-17
 
Learn through media projects, writing, guest speakers, and screenings, then apply your skills every Friday from 3–4 PM. The program concludes with a 90-second short doc where you’ll direct and shoot a story inspired by your community. Join us and start creating from behind the camera!

The healing sanctuary in the Altadena Library Community Room will offer a strong contingent of faith leaders in a wide variety of spiritual practices.

The Altadena Library Teen Space will be a VIP area for youth up through college age. They will be offered a variety of activities in addition to the safe space reserved for them.

Project HOPE is a global NGO that provides health and health-adjacent services in communities impacted by crisis and disaster.
